H: Now that England are out of the World Cup, what will the WAGS do for the rest of the summer? We have an app that might just help them out.
Titles
Hello and welcome to Life and Style, I'm Layla and no matter what your views are on England's performance yesterday, or in fact that disallowed goal that was clearly miles past the line, there's one thing that we will all agree on and that's that the WAGS are always on form. If you're one of the millions of people who love to follow in the WAGS fashion footsteps and perhaps have a taste of the celebrity lifestyle yourself, then you're in the right place, because joining me today to talk through how you can look as glamorous as the WAGS without having a Premiership footballer's wallet is original WAG and television presenter Lizzie Cundy, hello
A: Hello, lovely to be here
H: Good to see you as well. And of course we've got OK! Magazine fashion editor Emma Gunavardhana – how are you today?
B: Very well thank you
H: Fabulous. We're going to be talking through lots of lovely things with these ladies and of course you've just come back Lizzie from South Africa?
A: Yes just stepped off the plane, literally, it's been amazing but I just wish England could have done far better
H: I know, it's a sad day for all of us but of course the WAGS will still be out shopping and having some fun. They've had a- well they've taken a quiet time, we haven't seen a lot of them, what's happening with them at the moment?
B: Well I think they've all kind of had a bit of a low profile recently, you know they didn't go over to the World Cup as they did last year, and I think as well you know there's been a lot of stuff about maybe they weren't good for the guys during the tournament
H: Well Lizzie did mention that Fabio was telling them to stand back and –
A: Yes well Fabio Capello said he didn't want it like the last World Cup in Germany with all the WAGS on the front of every paper and every magazine, but it wasn't going to be like that in South Africa – you've got the security risks, you know the girls were being protected, there were a few girls there actually – there was a few of the WAGS there, you know I saw them spotted around Sun City and I hung out with a few of them, so it's just a shame we didn't get the right result and I think Fabio did the wrong thing by banning the WAGS, I don't think it was the right move
H: We're going to talk more about fashion WAGS and everything like that, in fact we are streaming live today, so if you have any questions that you'd like to put to either Emma or Lizzie, please use the box on your screen. It's a simple little gadget, you just type in your question and press send and we'll have it up here, and we will do our best to tackle your questions over the next 15 minutes so get speedy. Just so you know, coming up on today's show – how to get the WAG look without spending a fortune, back in shape in just weeks, celebrity mums and how they do it, and we find out about a new app which can help you lead the celebrity lifestyle. Ladies, fashion fashion – of course Emma being here and Lizzie as well whose known, all her pictures all over the place, always looking fantastic – how do the WAGS do it and how can we do it without having that kind of money behind us?
B: I think it's really easy nowadays. I mean the high street is such a great place to get designs that obviously the WAGS go and get it and it's straight off the catwalk but the time it takes for a designer item to literally be copied or inspire a high street collection is so quick now, so you don't really need a big budget. You can actually get a WAG outfit for under £50 these days if you just have a little bit of know-how and know where to go
H: Really? And is it ok Lizzie to be wearing the sort of fake versions of an outfit and maybe add some nice accessories? What do you think about this?
A: Well of course it is, and I mean as Emma said you can get things so easy now, you don't have to go designer and spend a lot of money, you really don't. I mean today my outfit has come to actually £50!
H: Really?
A: Apart from the shoes. So you can mix and match and I think that's the – you know. And you can easily get the look, if you want the WAG look you don't have to go designer, but just you know choose – as you said, with accessories you can maybe do a bit of mix and match maybe, that's what I tend to do
H: What pieces would you focus on because the WAG look is quite – it looks expensive, you are sort of dripping in diamonds and drama and they do want that sort of slightly diva-ish look – what pieces would you think are really important?
A: Well for me I always go for the belts and the shoes and I think they're quite – I often look at people's shoes and I love Louboutons and I know they're quite expensive but if you're going to have one expensive piece to wear I think go for the shoes or the belt. You can get away with jeans from say somewhere like Top Shop or a Mango top, it can look just as fabulous as Gucci
H: Well talking about shoes, we've got a picture of Victoria Beckham in some stunning shoes, and also she – she's a lady who obviously wears a lot of very expensive clothes but sometimes it is just the shoes that pull of a simple black outfit. What do you think?
B: It's absolutely true. I mean I'm always baffled by her shoes, they're so high, they're so fabulous but it just makes her outfit look incredible, and she has such poise in those shoes which I envy
H: Oh yes
B: Because how many times I've had to kick off a pair of shoes halfway through a night because they're so uncomfortable, but Victoria Beckham obviously has trained her feet to not hurt
H: Well we hear gossip that there are lots of problems with her feet so who knows?
A: Yes her feet aren't her best asset, I've got to say. Victoria, but she wears the shoes in style, she can walk in them no matter how high, I have to say I can't walk in flat shoes, I get scared if someone gives me a pair of flat shoes, I can't walk in them. I'm so used to the big heels
H: Well you see it's one thing wearing high heels getting into a car, going to a premiere or a party, getting out the car and that's it. But you know girls at home, we need to walk a bit, we need to catch the tube, we have to have a little bit of a run. How can one get away with the high heels? Is it a case of sticking some plimsolls in your bag?
B: It's absolutely, there's a foolproof way. You buy your shoes. You do not wear them the first time when you go out. You get some trainer socks, the really thin ones and you walk all around your house in them. Do it a couple of nights in a row
H: Ok
B: And then it works the little bits that would rub on your feet and you can wear them, you won't get any blisters, absolutely foolproof
H: Lizzie looks like you've done that before
A: Or you could do what Emma did today and just wear like your trainers on your way here, and when you come to the office, put on your high heels
H: And pretend you've had them on all night
A: No one knows
B: It works with something like a little pair of ballet pumps, especially the little spangly ones, fit so well into a clutch
H: Yes
B: And they're the perfect thing to you know put on before or after
H: Do the WAGS even do that do you think?
A: Well most of the WAGS are used to wearing very high heels, I've got to be honest, and even our lovely Alex Gerrard whose a very tall girl and actually always wears really high heels and looks fabulous, and I do think women look better with heels on no matter what
H: Maybe we should cope with the pain just a little bit
A: I think you've got to cope with the pain
H: Pain for fashion. The other thing is the lovely summer dress. We've got a picture of Danni Minogue actually looking stunning in a premiere dress, black and white stripy dress. But for girls on the high street to get one dress that something special for a party or a nice BBQ this summer, where should we go?
B: Well I'm absolutely obsessed with a particular line at the moment called Forever Unique and if it's the horizontal striped dress that Danni wore to the NTAs –
H: Yes
B: They actually did a dress that was so similar, that is I think it's £250 which realistically for an investment piece is great, and it was so eye-catching
H: Yes
B: That's definitely a place to be looking
H: Fantastic. And your favourite dress, is there one -
A: I have to say I just bought the most amazing dress from French Connection and it's got the nice little shoulder pads, it comes in at the waist, I wore it the other night, everyone thought it was a Victoria Beckham style dress, and I don't know, this is French Connection you know and it looked fantastic, so they've got some really great dresses in there are the moment
H: So it's about keeping your eyes out and looking carefully?
B: Definitely
H: So we've talked, we've mentioned French Connection. What do you girls think of Primark?
B: Primarni?
H: Primarni, Primarche - every girl's talking about it because if you look carefully there are some pieces that you can really make look good
A: Yes you have to rummage though, that's the only thing and for me, because I'm such a busy girl with work and I've got two boys as well and a demanding husband, it is hard for me to go there because you really do have to rummage, but if you have got the time believe me it's well worth it because you can get some real bargains and a fabulous look
H: A lot of celebrities now are starting to wear more high street trends as well aren't they? We've seen Coleen Rooney is a real pusher for that and you know picking up some high street bits and making it look good. How can you not just spot the right thing but make it look classier than it might be?
B: I think that definitely goes with the accessorising. I think Alex Gerrard is somebody who does that so well in her column every week we have a chat with her about what she's been buying and as much as she'll mention something very high end, she'll also last week she was saying ah she was doing her holiday shopping in River Island and she picked up a gorgeous pair of jeans in Top Shop which have studs all down the side
H: Nice
B: Obviously quite – looks like a designer item but isn't, but obviously if she wore those, they're £60, with a pair of her Louboutins you know, a simple vest top and with one of her big slouchy bags, I mean instantly
A: Don't forget the sunglasses
B: Big sunglasses
H: The big sunglasses always look very, very fabulous. Thank you very much girls, there's a little bit of fashion for you. Time now for a little break, we'll be coming up next with some celebrity mums and how they look great during and after pregnancy.
Break
H: You're watching Life and Style, I'm Layla and today I'm joined by OK! Magazine fashion editor Emma Gunavardhana and Lizzie Gundy, TV presenter and original WAG. Tell me a little bit about this title "original WAG?"
A: Well I don't know where it's come from, that's what the press has always called me, "original WAG" – I think it's because I've been there, done it, got the t-shirt and I know all the girls
H: You're like an ambassador for WAGS as well –
A: Well I try and wave the old WAG flag as it were. I stick up for them, because actually now in the press they get a bit of a hard time sometimes. I think it's a little bit unfair, so I try and stick up for the girls. They do bring a lot of good as well as glamour
H: You mentioned earlier that you've got two children and right now we're talking about mothers, pregnant celebrities in general as well as WAGs and losing the weight afterwards. Pregnancy-wise we've got a lovely picture of Danielle Lloyd looking fantastic in a blue dress. How can they look so good at a time that women are usually bloated and feeling a bit horrible?
A: Well I have to say when I was pregnant I didn't really enjoy it, because I loved having my little tight fitting jeans and you just can't do that, you know you're pregnant
H: You're a different shape
A: And there's a big bump, yes and your body really – it's the biggest change your body has. But I think Danielle Lloyd really carries it off well. I saw her at her lovely baby shower party that she had for OK! Magazine and she had a wonderful little dress on, you know it just was loose, covered the bump but still very, very kind of sexy but just looks so gorgeous and beautiful and I think she's really carried it off well
H: Emma what are your tips for pregnant women dressing nicely?
B: Well I think the thing is that for a long time it was don't show the bump, don't go skin tight and then it got quite mumsy and everyone wore sort of loose-fitting things, but I think now we've really come into that age when there's brands like Mamas and Papas and even TopShop has a maternity range, and they really are just extensions of their normal line just cut differently to accommodate the bump, so people don't feel mumsy and they do feel – like you were saying – you like to have your little clothes and you don't have to deviate too much from your normal wardrobe, you can still look and feel really great, and the maternity jeans I know TopShop maternity jeans fly off the shelves
A: Yes
B: Because they're so comfy yet they're really well-fitting on the legs. So it's easy
H: And also to stay healthy during pregnancy and look good we're talking about lots of water, lots of hydration – are there any tips for staying looking good health-wise as well?
A: Well I just think drinking lots of water, whether you're pregnant or not I think is always the right thing to do, and especially when I was pregnant I just drunk tonnes of water because your skin does actually change when you're pregnant and you can come up in a few spots. There's a lot of changes actually when you're pregnant, and I just think lots of obvious things like drinking lots of water and fresh fruit, and stay off the drink
H: Stay off the alcohol obviously
A: Yes
H: Lizzie, I'm looking at you now with the tiniest little waist coat on, tiny little jeans and you're telling me you have two boys
A: Yes
H: How was it after pregnancy losing that weight and getting back to this fabulous figure?
A: Oh thank you. But it – to be honest I was very, very lucky. I enjoy my food, often people say to me "do you not eat?" but after I had the boys I just tried to keep my busy life as it is and do a bit of exercise, and just eat healthily and it just fell off me to be honest, and I think everyone, if they just eat sensibly, don't go on the crash diets, that's what worries me is when people have had a baby they're like "got to get back in my jeans and I've got to do it" – you know I think everyone remembers Victoria Beckham got back into her jeans so quickly and you know that doesn't always happen
H: There are a lot of those -
A: Don't put pressure on yourself at all because you've had a baby. You've got to let your body go back naturally
H: There are a lot of these stories that I believe are sometimes not even the case when you hear about celebrities doing this crazy diet, that crazy diet – I mean we've got a picture of Carly Cole who looks stunning, merely two weeks after pregnancy, after giving birth. But it's not always true these crazy diets of oh just eat grapes and lettuce, and you've got to stay healthy don't you?
B: Especially if you're breastfeeding as well because you have to obviously look after a little baby and that's really important. You can't breastfeed if you're not eating. But I think, I mean I saw a picture of Denise Van Outen, I think it was two or three weeks after she gave birth and she looked absolutely incredible. But I think anyone whose just given birth is probably thinking about dieting, getting back into shape, but I think immediately I don't think there's any harm in getting into a pair of Spanx
H: Definitely there's a trick! There's a trick
B: Or some control underwear because I mean as Lizzie said it's a huge change, you spend all that time just because the baby's been born doesn't mean that your body's going to suddenly snap back into shape –
H: If only
B: Some people are lucky, some people are lucky
A: Exactly but I mean don't put too much pressure on yourself, that's what I would say because you have to eat, you need the energy you've got a little newborn baby and you're not getting a lot of sleep so you need nutrients, it's crazy to go on a diet and I really wouldn't, you know, tell people don't worry, it will fall off, it really does and then get back into exercising as soon as you can
H: Exactly stay health, give yourself a bit of time and stick on some Spanx. That's it for part two. In the final part of the show we'll be looking at a brand new app, an I-phone app that will help you live the celebrity life
Break
H: Welcome back to the final part of Life and Style. We're here with OK! Magazine fashion editor Emma and we've got Lizzie here as well, the original WAG and TV presenter – we've been laughing about that title but it is fantastic. Right now we're going to talk about this application that's come out, made by OK! Magazine, it's an app for the I-phone, I guess on the I-pad and some other phones as well, have a little play there. It's a fantastic new app that helps you live the celebrity lifestyle. Tell me about it Emma?
B: Well basically we have so many emails and letters from readers all the time asking us about where the Celeb hang-outs are, they want to know where such a celebrity goes shopping, so this app basically puts all of those answers together for you but actually in a really nice interactive way. So for example if you really like Alex Gerrard you can type her name into it and it will tell you where she goes shopping or where she's been seen having dinner. Equally if you find that you've travelled and maybe you're in Liverpool and you normally live in London and you want to go out for a night and you want to know where the players maybe hang out, and to be fair if they are eating there you know that it's probably going to be quite good food
H: Yes
B: You know they know their stuff. You can search that as well and it will direct you to the right places. So it's just kind of, you know getting a bit more -
H: Yes it's very clever, I've had a little play with the app myself. Have you had a little play with it Lizzie?
A: I have had a play with it and I absolutely adore it, I think it's a fantastic idea and I think it's going to really take on because people are always asking me you know not just about WAGS but about other celebrities an where they go, where they hang out, what shops they go in. This is the ideal way to do it, I think it's amazing
H: The app is, it's one price and it's constantly updated so it's fantastic and also if you spot any celebrities yourself you can pop it in there and it's not really following a celebrity, it's more getting a celebrity's advice as to where to go. So if for instance you can click in which area you're in, in fact the best way to show you is to show you this little clip. Check it out

H: There you have it, don't miss out. All of us have got it on our little phones so don't miss out if you want to check out that app as well. And of course we've had you guys getting involved online because this is of course live and you've been sending in your questions. First question we have here is from a lady called Katie Kim – and it's for both of you – "can a well-chosen belt cover up any immediate baby baggage post-pregnancy?" Emma, do you know of any of these clever belts? Or a style of outfit?
B: I think a belt can always hide a bit actually because it pulls in your waist and if you get the kind of elasticated and they're very in at the minute with the big buckle at the front, it can distract from a bit of a belly. Or if you want to pull in your waist and emphasise the waist, I think they're perfect
H: Chunky belts are in fashion aren't they?
A: Yes, definitely around the waist, not around the hips because you may end up looking broader. That's my top tip.
H: Thank you for that one. Another question we've got here from Lucy. "I've not noticed much fake tan around these days" - a good point – "is the fashion of being tangoed wearing off?"
A: I personally think being tangoed was never in, to look orange, but I don't think it's the end of fake tan. I think it's good because the sun's not good for you. I really believe in fake tan, I think everyone looks better with a bit of a colour
B: That's true
A: And although the English rose is lovely but not on me, that's for sure, and I just think to have a bit of a colour is your best sort of beauty tip, really to just have a bit of a tan is wonderful
H: Where there is the health element to it as well and avoiding the ageing causes of sunshine and whatever. But Emma, fake tan-wise do you have any recommendations?
B: Well I would say that's an interesting question because I think it actually shows that fake tan formulations are getting better and people aren't noticing it because it's getting more natural. Tango I think came from the fact that formulations were a bit thick and heavy, maybe a bit too much. I've actually just road-tested an absolutely incredible product from L'Oreal called Sublime and Bronze, their face and body mist. Absolutely hands down the best at home fake tan I have ever tried. It's in a spray and it's so easy
H: You say you've road tested it, is it out yet then?
B: It is out, it's in the magazine this week
H: I'm going to get it, I'm going to check that out
A: There's another one, Beau Bronze
H: Beau Bronze
A: It's wonderful. I've got it on at the minute
H: You do, you look great
A: Because I haven't had any sun, South Africa, it's winter, so I had to have a bit of colour
H: We've seen all the footballers covered up as well haven't we?
A: Yes
H: We've got another question here from Julie – "where should WAGS in waiting buy designer-style clothes at high street prices?" We mentioned a couple of high street shops, is there any in particular that you would recommend?
B: Well I think definitely TopShop's a great place for some staples. Zara's excellent, it really is, especially if you have a bit of an eye you can pick out some really great pieces. But also don't – don't rule out online. Online shopping's actually great and if you don't mind picking up some sale stuff, some of the really high end shopping sites have great sales on actually at the moment so you can get some good bits
H: Lizzie is there a high street store you go to?
A: Do you know my favourite is Mango
H: Oh
A: I love Mango and you can get some real good bargains, and they always fit so well and they're just great and really good prices
H: Last question, we are tight for time but I'm desperate to ask you this one, I think it's a fantastic question from Sarah, thank you also Jen for your question but we won't have time for it today. "What do guests - what do you both think about teeth whitening? Is it a step too far? Is it a crowd pleaser?" What are your thoughts?
A: I believe in teeth whitening and there's nothing wrong with it. It can take years off you actually and do you know what, I've had people before that I've known whose teeth are stained and they don't want to smile, and I think there's nothing nicer than seeing a lovely smile with lovely white, shiny teeth
H: That's absolutely true
A: And so I'm all for it
H: I think we've both had our teeth whitened and have you also Emma?
B: I haven't
H: Oh no, your teeth are fantastic though!
A: They're amazing
B: I feel like I've got clothes pegs in there now
H: Oh no you look fantastic, we're all quite bright and white and TV smiles – but what do you think about the whole teeth whitening thing?
B: I approach teeth whitening like I approach any kind of cosmetic procedure which is if it's going to make you feel better about yourself then brilliant, so that's basically my take on it
A: There's also a tip I learnt today that is to drink tea, coffee, red wine through a straw -doesn't affect your teeth
H: That's true, a lot of people are doing that, I was going to laugh about that one because we heard it earlier today, drink it through a straw, drink coffee through a straw. There you go. We're going to squeeze in one last question from Polly – "who is the best dressed WAG?"
A: Well I've got mine. Have you got yours?
B: I've got mine. You go first
A:It's very close
H: Ok
A: But mine's got to be Alex Gerrard because I absolutely adore her clothes, she always looks amazing. I love – she isn't afraid to try things out and be a bit different, that's what I love about her, always original. Love the shoulder pad outfit I saw – she just looked amazing. And she doesn't always go designer, she really mix and matches it and I just love her style
H: Emma?
B: I have to say – I don't want to repeat you but I agree. And I've actually been lucky enough, I've actually been shopping with Alex and I've seen her in action, and the girl knows her stuff. Seriously knows her stuff
H: Fantastic. Well we want to hear more about that some other time. Unfortunately that's all we have time for today. Thank you both of you so much for joining me and having a good old gossip
A: Thank you
H: About WAGS and celebrity fashion. And thank you guys for getting involved as well, you did all get involved online. Thank you for your questions, there were so many more that we didn't manage to get through but thank you for watching and for joining in. If you would like further details about that fantastic Celebrity spotting app, visit your app store or I-tunes and search simply for OK! Celeb spotter. Enjoy it, see you next time. Bye
