Parenting expert and clinical psychologist Claire Halsey offers exclusive tips on coping with the longer, lighter evenings

Everyone looks forward to the summer months when we don’t have to wake up and leave work in the dark. But it’s easy to forget that children, who have their own routines, can be unsettled after the clocks have gone forward and are recovering from an hour’s less sleep. Having longer to spend with your kids is one of the bonuses of summer, but if you’re worried about how to make sure their bedtimes and routines are not affected log on to see parenting expert Claire Halsey and toy buyer Wendy Munt for some top advice.

According to new research by Argos it seems a staggering number of parents could do with Claire’s tips, as half of those in the UK feel that their children’s routines are affected by longer days in the summer. Unsurprisingly, the majority of parents want their kids outside enjoying the light evenings. With the Easter holidays coming up more than half of young parents say shopping gets in the way of their free time with the kids, but most would rather spend time with their children by playing in the garden or taking them to the park.

Not only is your family getting a taste of the great outdoors but all these activities mean that the kids are tired when it comes to bedtime – great news when light days can confuse a child’s body clock. Join us in a live webchat and let us know what works for you - a good old bedtime story, cuddly toys or even blackout blinds to ensure the kids get a decent night’s sleep. If you also want to know some other ways to help your children get to sleep, and how you can enjoy the lighter evenings together, Claire and Wendy can answer all of your questions.

Parenting expert and clinical psychologist Claire Halsey and toy buyer Wendy Munt, join on Friday 4th April at 12.30 to discuss ways to keep the kids occupied during the longer evenings. Claire will be joined by a spokesperson from Argos to help answer your questions.
